Wave functional materials are artificial materials that can control wave propagation as wished. In this talk, I will give a brief review of the progress of wave functional materials and reveal the secret behind the engineering of these materials to achieve desired properties.

Prof. Ying Wu received the 2017 Phononics Young Investigator Award as the Phononics community gathered in Changsha, China, for the 4th International Conference on Phononic Crystal/Metamaterials, Phonon Transport/Coupling, and Topological Phononics, on June 4-9 2017.

Ying Wu

Professor Wu works on theoretical modeling and numerical simulations of classical wave propagation in complex media, including metamaterials, metasurfaces, topological materials and random systems. She is recognized by effective medium theory, perturbation theory for periodic structures with resonances.

Xiujuan Zhang

​Master, South China University of Technology, 2011-2013 Visiting Student, April 2012 - July 2012 Introduction ​Xiujuan is currently a master candidate at South China University of Technology. She visited our group from April 2012 to July 2012. During her visit, she studied the acoustic waveguide and developed the scattering theory based on eigenfunction expansion. Research Interests Computational physics, Metamaterials, ​Acoustic Waveguides.
