The KAUST Supercomputing Laboratory is co-organizing with NVIDIA, a leader in accelerated computing and artificial intelligence, a full-day workshop on accelerating scientific applications using GPUs on Tuesday, February 20th, 2018 in the auditorium between buildings 4 and 5.

In the next months, KAUST expects to place into service Shaheen-3, a supercomputer with a GPU partition whose planned 1 Exaflop/s HPL AI capability would rank it in the Top 6 globally if delivered today.

A multi-disciplinary team of international researchers from KAUST and Japan's National Institute of Informatics (NII) in collaboration with U.S. supercomputer company Cray Inc. successfully implemented a new algorithm to efficiently harness the computational power of the fastest supercomputers in the world. Supercomputing experts from KAUST converged with global participants at the America's Center in St. Louis, Missouri from November 14 to 19 for SC21, the annual international conference for high performance computing (HPC), networking, storage and analysis. Established in 1988, the SC conference is the largest HPC event of its kind, with big name industries like Intel, Red Hat and Oracle sharing the exhibition floor alongside universities, government agencies and small businesses, and professionals from various affiliations attending presentations throughout the convention center.
